I almost got a Yoda dress last year but I refuse to accept that level of cowardice. (I'm in canine denial) I mean Star-Wars memorabilia for pets? This is all new territory. I might as well just go and start a dog costume website- oh wait I did.
The obvious question is why? Well I've found a costume blog for dogs, dog costume shops, and a veritable blog of pulp dog knowledge as if some loving rat terrier was "marking its territory". Yet when I went to pick up the last Halloween costume for a party, I quickly realized that there was nowhere for me to just wet my nose, veil a bit, before I walked to the nearest shopping cart. Let me make my apathy first.
So I thought about it… and I made a few phone calls to some prominent Kansas, rolled it over for a couple afternoon car chases and decided to take action. I mean I can face it- it's a man who eats the world out and if I don't seize the dog that looks at me in the mirror.
So there was no bone about it — I had to do it, and if it chewed up some sneakers, did some "leg work" and barked at the door in the middle of the night — what should a dog do? Have to do. After some intense "lobbying", my human finally came around, helped me with programming and got the show on the road.
Humans are funny, I saw him with the same face for two weeks straight, when he appears on my face every time I look at the computer — and he doesn't get it! Finally one day I just said screw it, and take all my old clothes out of the closet and tear them off with clippers while going to work. (Polyester is disgusting- I don't care who you are) And then I took my old dog Prisoner Costume Hat and set it carefully on her keyboard. I always knew he wasn't the brightest puppy in the litter, but if he didn't get it I don't know what I'd do. Well they thanked God and we were able to successfully launch their joint venture: dogs in pet costumes are loved.

The only thing that is more adorable is your dog in a goofy outfit. But not every dress is ideal for every dog. (A Hot Dog Costume sounds great on a Chivokwa or a Wiener Dog, then a fine dan or mastiff.) And appearance is not everything. Personality is a big part of it. For example, suppose your dog is particularly curious, he might make a great doggie detective. Playful Puppy? Perhaps the next dog was talking about the Joker.

Now this much is said, the first practical (yes, I have just used the word practical about dog clothes) will be faced with the tasks that you are getting the size measurement for your dog. So further on the page we have included a basic diagram for taking measurements of your dogs (this can be found on the dog size chart with great dog clothes on MyPetApparel.com) Note that chest measurement is the most important. In most cases (except for wiener dogs) if you just get a chest measurement, others should just fall.
Find the Right Dress for Your Precious Puppy
A T-shirt that you are willing to sacrifice for your dog (for a small dog you can use your child's T-shirt);
A needle and a thread;
Some safety pins for sewing;
scissors;
your dog.
Time required: 15 minutes (excluding the time required to choose a T-shirt).
Instructions on how to make a dog costume:
- The easiest way to tailor the shirt is to make your dog stand up and put the shirt on the dog. The front paws go through the sleeves and the decoration goes to the dog's back. Your shirt will likely be too large on your dog, so pay attention to any excessive parts and pin them down. You will cut them later. Leave some space on the bottom of the shirt so that your dog can relieve itself and not make the dress dirty.
- Take off the shirt (after you pin excess parts, the shirt should still come off easily). Adjust the safety pin as necessary and cut off excessive fabric. Fold your shirt and sew the two halves together. You can also use a sewing machine if you want. turn around. You have a homemade pet dress ready and you can start the party now!
